How to use an online teleprompter
Step by step: how Reframely works
- Paste your script. Type it, paste it, pick a ready-made one, or import Word, Fountain or Final Draft. A line starting with # is a section you can jump to.
- Pick your rig. Glass teleprompter, phone under the lens, tablet rig or a studio monitor: Reframely mirrors the text and puts the reading line where your eyes need it.
- Press play and read. The words roll past the amber line at your speed in words per minute. Space pauses; arrows change speed; a clicker or foot pedal works too.
- Your phone as a remote. With Pro, scan the code with a second phone: play, pause, speed and sections from your hand, with or without internet.
Questions
What is a teleprompter?
A teleprompter, also called an autocue or prompter, shows your script near the camera lens or in front of you, so you can read while looking at your audience. In a glass rig, the script is reflected on angled glass in front of the lens.
Is Reframely really free, even for commercial use?
Yes. The teleprompter, mirror mode, rig presets, clicker support, script import and the OBS output are free for personal and commercial videos, with no sign-up and no watermark. Reframely Pro ($10 for 7 days or $99 a year) adds a phone remote and voice follow.
Can I use it on my phone or tablet?
Yes. It runs in the browser on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Chromebooks, Fire tablets, Mac and Windows.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After your first visit, Reframely is saved in your browser and opens with no internet. With Pro, you can even pair a phone remote offline over the same Wi-Fi or a hotspot.
Does it work with my teleprompter rig?
Yes. It works with glass teleprompters from Glide Gear, Neewer, Desview, Padcaster, Ulanzi, LensGo, Moman, FeelWorld, Leeventi, Prompter People, Datavideo, SmallRig, GVM and ikan, with generic and DIY rigs, with prompter screens such as the Elgato Prompter and studio HDMI or SDI monitors, and with a laptop webcam. Pick your rig in the Display menu and the text is mirrored and placed for it.
