A teleprompter app for FeelWorld TP10 and TP16

FeelWorld's tablet teleprompters come with a Bluetooth remote and FeelWorld's own prompting app. Reframely is a browser alternative for the tablet in the rig: mirrored text, rig presets and no account.

Step by step: set up a glass teleprompter rig

  1. Lay the screen under the glass. Put your phone or tablet face up in the tray, under the angled glass. The camera sits behind the glass and films straight through it.
  2. Pick your rig in Reframely. Open the sliders and choose Your rig. Tablet or Phone in a glass rig mirrors the text, so it reads the right way round in the glass.
  3. Turn the brightness all the way up. Beam-splitter glass passes only part of the light, so the reflection is dimmer than the screen. Full brightness and a darker room keep the words crisp.
  4. Check it through the camera. Look at the camera’s screen, not the tablet. If the hood’s edge shows in a wide shot, zoom in a little or widen the side margins. Then pair a clicker or your phone and press play.

Specifications from FeelWorld (TP10, TP16). FeelWorld lists the TP16's clamp for devices 60 to 255 mm wide, and the TP10's for phones 59 to 90 mm wide as well as tablets. For FeelWorld's phone teleprompter, the TP2A, see budget phone teleprompters.

Set up your FeelWorld rig

  1. Put the tablet in the clamp, open Reframely in its browser and tap Open prompter.
  2. Tap the sliders icon and choose Your rig → Tablet in a glass rig. The text is mirrored for the glass.
  3. Turn the screen brightness to the maximum. The TP16's 70/30 glass lets more of the scene through to the camera, so the reflection is a little dimmer than on 50/50 glass.
  4. Pair a remote: the FeelWorld remote if it shows up in Clicker setup, or a second phone with Reframely Pro.

Bigger glass, bigger text

The 16-inch TP16 suits reading from further away, such as a standing presenter or a wide shot. Raise the text size until you can read it comfortably from your spot, and widen the side margins if the hood hides the edges in your shot.

Will the FeelWorld remote work with Reframely?

Pair it in the tablet's Bluetooth settings, then open Clicker setup and press each button. If the presses show up, assign them to play, speed or line jumps. If nothing appears, the remote only talks to FeelWorld's app, and a second phone makes a better remote (Reframely Pro). See teleprompter remote not working.

Distance and text size for 10 and 16-inch glass

A common rule of thumb is about a foot of reading distance per inch of screen. With the TP10 and a 10 to 11-inch tablet, that's roughly 6 to 11 feet; the TP16 with a large tablet suits presenters further back, such as standing presenters or wide shots. Set the text size from where you'll stand, not from behind the camera.

Light and the 70/30 glass

Glass that lets more light through to the camera reflects less of the screen. In a bright room, raise the tablet's brightness, avoid lights behind the camera that reflect in the glass, and try the amber color set, which some people find easier to read through glass.

Questions

Do I need the FeelWorld app?

No. The TP10 and TP16 are glass teleprompters, so any app that mirrors text works. Reframely runs in the tablet's browser with nothing to install.

What does 70/30 glass mean?

About 70% of the light passes through the glass to the camera and about 30% is reflected toward you. The camera gets a brighter picture, and the reflected text is a little dimmer, so turn the tablet's brightness up.

Does it work with an Android tablet?

Yes. Use Chrome on Android, which also supports voice follow.
